France 2014

Friday 6th June 2014

The disco last night was a great way to finish a great week. There was a lovely atmosphere. This morning was a very early start as we set off on the long journey home. We will keep you posted on our ETA as we get closer.

Thursday 5th June 2014

We had a great time exploring Dieppe this morning. A chance for the children to sample local crepes and ice cream, as well as buying an array of other market place gifts! We then journeyed onwards to a cheese farm. This was an amazing experience where we learned all about the process of making cheese and the history of cheese production in this area of Normandy. We also had the opportunity to get up close with some farmyard animals, including a one day old calf! When we returned to the chateaux we wasted no time at all in getting down to local beach. We are now back and getting ready for tonight's disco, preceded by frogs legs and snails as part of our evening meal. It's been a very good day.

Thursday 5th June 2014

The children are just putting the final touches to their rooms as they prepare for room inspection. The weather is looking much improved today after rain showers on and off for most of yesterday. After breakfast we will be heading to Dieppe and then the cheese factory.

Wednesday 4th June 2014

The children are getting ready for bed after a long day of travelling around the various WWI memorial sights. We are so proud of the way the children responded respectfully and sensitively to everything they have seen today. They really have done Robertswood proud. This evening we swapped activities from last night, with fencing and archery. For dinner tonight we had lasagne which went down very well.

Wednesday 4th June 2014

Another good nights sleep and we are now preparing for a long day at the various WWI memorial sites and museums. Room inspections this morning went very well with every room improving their score from yesterday.

Tuesday 3rd June 2014

We've had a delightful day in Rouen visiting the beautiful cathedral and learning about the local history and culture. We were particularly impressed with the children's attentiveness and behaviour.
We are now enjoying the evening activities. Two groups are practising their archery skills while the third is fencing on the front lawns of the chateaux.

Tuesday 3rd June 2014

The children have just been woken up. Some are more alert than others first thing but everyone has had a very good nights sleep and they are now busying themselves getting ready for room inspection.

Monday 2nd June 2014

Children are now in bed, lights out and straight to sleep after a very long and busy day. Our evening meal was very tasty and well received by the everyone. Turkey with pasta, plenty of French bread and cheese. The Kingswood staff have been excellent at welcoming us and getting us settled quickly.

Monday 2nd June 2014

We have arrived safely at the chateaux. Glorious sunshine as we have our tour of the grounds and play some games on the sports field. Everyone thoroughly enjoyed the aquarium and we are now very excited to be here.

Just boarding the train for the euro tunnel. All very exciting. See you on the other side.

Monday 2nd June 2014

Safely away on the coach after waving goodbye to parents. Heading towards Clackett Lane services. Children are in good spirits, swapping World Cup stickers. Mr Dwight has three Yaya Toure stickers he's trying to trade. No takers so far. Riley nearly has the whole Argentina team.
